Dr. Kohl has used his understanding and expertise in neuroscience and neuropsychology to help inform his psychotherapy practice by offering empirically based treatments that are a safe and effective adjunct to traditional “talk therapy.” Currently Dr. Kohl offers neurotherapy and biofeedback training:
Neurotherapy is safe and effective and helps to induce a natural state of meditation by using audio-visual entrainment therapy (AVE) and cranio-electro stimulation (CES). Dr. Kohl utilizes a far infrared MediCrystal amethyst mat with memory foam bedding and a weighted blanket for extra comfort and stress reduction. Neurotherapy helps the client to safely achieve a deep and relaxing meditative state by stabilizing one’s limbic system, increasing specific neurotransmitters related to mood, and increasing cerebral blood flow, which helps to improve thinking and cognition. Neurotherapy sessions can be scheduled as a stand-alone treatment or before or after a traditional therapy session.
Biofeedback Training: Learning how to control one’s autonomic nervous system is fundamental to improving mood and alleviating symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. Dr. Kohl uses a comprehensive suite of clinical grade programs that are interactive and engaging for any age. Through biofeedback training, you will learn how to regulate your emotions by having better control over your autonomic nervous system.
