Neurotherapy and Biofeedback
At North Metro Psychological Services we believe in utilizing the most up to date neuroscientific technologies and methods aimed at improving mood and helping to alleviate symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. Neurotherapy and biofeedback are useful for those who:
- Are looking for a natural alternative to medication
- Do not respond well to traditional treatment approaches
- Experience symptoms of anxiety and/or depression
- Are interested in increasing healthy brain function to improve attention and cognition and reduce stress
- Would benefit from this form of treatment as an adjunct to psychotherapy
Neurotherapy is safe and effective and helps to induce a natural state of meditation by using audio-visual entrainment therapy and cranio-electro stimulation. For this treatment, we also utilize a far infrared MediCrystal Amethyst mat, which is an FDA approved medical-grade heating pad, as well as memory foam bedding and a weighted blanket for extra comfort and stress reduction. During neurotherapy treatment, the client lays on the bed and simply relaxes while wearing the AVE and CES equipment for the duration of the session.
Neurotherapy helps the client to safely achieve a deep and relaxing meditative state by stabilizing your limbic system, increasing specific neurotransmitters related to mood, and increasing cerebral blood flow, which helps to improve thinking and cognition. Neurotherapy sessions can be scheduled as a stand-alone treatment or before or after a traditional therapy session.
Biofeedback Training: Learning how to control one’s autonomic nervous system is fundamental to improving mood and alleviating symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. We use a comprehensive suite of clinical grade programs that are interactive and engaging for any age. Through biofeedback training, you will learn how to regulate your emotions by having better control over your central nervous system.
