PEERS® Social skills group for Adolescents

WHAT: The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) for Adolescents is an evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated teens in middle and high school, who are interested in learning ways to make and keep friends.

The Teen program is open to teens 14-18. Teens are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role-play demonstrations and practice these skills during group socialization activities.

This group will have a maximum of 6 members at any given time to allow for more personalized attention to achieve optimal growth.

This group is appropriate for motivated Teens with a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, ADD, Tourette’s, Social Anxiety, Depression, or no diagnosis.

The group will utilize evidence based approaches, while maintaining a Neurodiversity Affirming environment.

The PEERS group will be led by a Certified PEERS group leader, Dr. Jessi Langley.

Please note, this group REQUIRES a pre-screening application and an in-person screening for admission consideration. Please note that participation in either of these activities does NOT guarantee acceptance into the group.

If interested, you will be provided with information about our intake and screening process, which consists of an application, as well as an in-person screening session with your child. During the interview, we will be assessing the teen’s interest in learning how to make and keep friends, as the program relies heavily on self-motivation.

WHERE: This group will be IN-PERSON at 800 Kennesaw Ave NW, Suite 250, Marietta, GA 30060.

COST:

  • Initial pre-screening application and review for an in-person screening are FREE.

  • In-person screening will be at NMPS. The cost is $150.00. A collaborative decision will be made within 72 hours of the in-person screening about admittance to the group. If it’s determined this group is not of good clinical fit at that time, co-facilitator(s) will assist in connecting to appropriate resources.

  • To reserve a place in the group, there’s a $450 non-refundable deposit due when the facilitator(s) contact you about an admittance decision. This deposit secures your spot in the group and will be applied to the cost of the first three group sessions. This deposit is non-refundable for any reason, including if I withdraw from the group before attending.

Please note: This deposit reflects the considerable time and effort involved in the group screening process, which includes clinical assessment, consultation, and careful group placement to ensure a good therapeutic fit. Additionally, the deposit is essential to hold a spot in a limited-capacity group and to maintain group consistency and cohesion, both of which are critical for building a safe, stable, and effective therapeutic environment for all participants.

  • The cost per group session is $150.00.

COMMITMENT:

  • Every week for 14 weeks consistent attendance is required. Exceptions to attendance and additional group details will be discussed at the in-person group screening. Teens must be motivated and interested in attending the group. Teens must agree to participate in the group voluntarily.
