Support Group - autistic mothers of minors
WHAT: North Metro Psychological Services is pleased to offer a virtual support group specifically for neurodivergent mothers of minor children who are seeking connection, validation, and support within a safe, confidential therapeutic group space.
This support space will be semi-structured, offering a balance of psychoeducation and participant-led discussion. The facilitator will provide guidance on coping skills tailored to the unique experiences of neurodivergent mothers, while also creating an affirming environment where participants can share and process their individual concerns each week. A key focus of this group is fostering genuine connection and community among neurodivergent mothers—recognizing the unique challenges, strengths, and joys of parenting while neurodivergent.
Group discussions will cover topics including, but not limited to, identifying and meeting sensory needs (both for themselves and their children), understanding disability identity and burnout, navigating unmasking and the grief or relief that may come with it, managing complex family dynamics, balancing personal needs with caregiving demands, and embracing neurodivergence across the lifespan. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with others who truly “get it,” reducing isolation and building a supportive network of neurodivergent peers.
This group will be ongoing and have a maximum of 5 members at any given time in an effort to best serve each member's needs.
